Area and Perimeter with Color Tiles

Area is the number of square units needed to cover a figure. A unit square is one unit long and one unit high. Perimeter is the distance around a figure. If the side length of a tile is 1 unit, then a tile has an area of 1 square unit and a perimeter of 4 units. A rectangle made of 6 tiles has an area of 6 square units and a perimeter of 14 units. A staircase also made of 6 tiles has an area of 6 square units and a perimeter of 12 units. Notice that figures can have the same areas but different perimeters.
