Multiplication with Linking Cubes

Multiplication can be thought of as the first number telling how much to take of the second number. So 5 × 7 is like making 5 groups of 7. There are 35 in total, so 5 × 7 equals 35. Multiplying 5 × 7 can also be thought of as making 5 rows of 7. Again there are 35 in total, so 5 × 7 equals 35.
