Multiplying Polynomials with Algebra Tiles

To multiply polynomials, like (2x + 3)(x+1), model one factor along a vertical axis and the other factor along a horizontal axis. On the other side of the axes, create a rectangle with height and width equal to the factors. The rectangle contains two x² tiles, five x tiles, and three unit tiles, so (2x + 3)(x+1) equals 2x² + 5x + 3.
